BLOGGED: THE THINGS I HATE ABOUT FLYING
Traveling around the Philippines is indeed challenging. In order to maximize time, one has to fly from one island to another. But today, every Juan can now fly, thanks to the promo fares of the local LCCs (low cost carriers). Flying has never been this convenient. Sometimes, I even availed some of their promos and I did save time and money! But there are some drawbacks about it. Here are some of the things that I hate about flying around the country.

So, this is it.

I’ve been waiting for this opportunity to come. I’m done packing my stuff and I feel… weird. You know, there’s this bittersweet feeling as I arranged my things for the big move. Well, leaving Davao for good would be painful… but I’ll do whatever it takes just to reach my dream of becoming an Air Traffic Control.

Well, it’s about time to learn how to become independent… how to wash clothes manually and how to cook simple food. Well, scratch that. There are lots of laundry shops out there and there are lots of stores that offer good food. HAHA. Whatever.

So yeah, but I’m coming back to Davao this Oct 31st. Baka magparamdam mga ninuno ko if I don’t visit their respective graves.

10 months. Just 10 months, and it will be over. I promise that I’ll nail the air traffic control training. Yahooooooo.

BLOGGED: We Remember 9/11

We remember the jumpers. Some complain how unfair life is. Jumpers have to deal with a such difficult decision of whether to fight the fire or just to escape this nightmare.\

We remember the firefighters who bravely entered the two towers and perished along the way while trying to save as many people as they could.

We remember the people who died inside their respective offices of the World Trade Center and Pentagon. They weren’t prepared. Some died instantly at their desks. Others had to suffer so much pain before the building collapsed.

We remember the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 11andAmerican Airlines Flight 77. Even if they didn’t arrive at their destination, they were at least prepared and aware of what was happening minutes before the crash.

We remember the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 who bravely fought the hijackers and instead of heading to the US Capitol, they crashed on a rural field somewhere in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

We remember the victims’ family members. They will never forget the day when they had their last phone call and conversation with their loved ones.

We remember the terrorists. They also have their own share of story; the reason why they did this inhumane act.

Lastly, we remember 9/11. It was a wake up call. It made us realize that anything can happen in our lives. Live life to the fullest. Cherish every moment.

We will never forget 9/11.

Never again.

BLOGGED: The KK Diaries: Mistaken Identity and the Sunday Market Madness

Day 3 - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia

Dear Diary,

I woke up alone inside the room. Everyone’s already up. The aircon was still running, making it more difficult to wake up. I was *THIS* close to go back to bed and sleep the entire day. But I tried to muster enough strength to carry my body; my weight triples every morning and I still don’t know the science behind it.

After splashing my face with icy cold water, I went to the lounge, only to find the caretaker putting some fresh fruits on the table. I sat, grabbed a few oranges, prepared a glass of cold water and turned on the TV. While watching NatGeo Wild, the caretaker poked me and asked in pidgin English, “Want some more? You can drink coffee here.”

“Oh, how thoughtful of you. Thank you! But I prefer drinking this,” I politely replied.

“Don’t be shy, okay? Just help yourself!”

“Alright, thank you!”, I chimed.

Why she’s talking in English to me, diary? Well, I wasn’t sure. Maybe she’s Malaysian. Or whatever.

As I went to the water dispenser to refill my drink, I peered at the window and was surprised to see numerous blue tents along the street. And I remembered what Brenna told us yesterday that every Sunday, the whole stretch of Jalan Gaya is closed in order to give way to the Sunday Market.

For the love of boots

I miss wearing my Dr. Martens black leather boots. I used to wear it back in grade school. People back then were like, “wow sosyal naman ‘tung bata na to naka DMs”. Honestly, I did not know that my leather boots were that famous. Poor me, I wasn’t *that* conscious with the brand and price. Dad just bought it because he thought DMs would look good to me. Yes, it looked gorgeous and stylish and perfectly fit my then size 7 1/2 feet. I wore it for like two and a half years.

Then after entering the so-called “growth-spurt” years, the leather boots won’t fit anymore. I got sad. Didn’t realize that my feet grew bigger (I’m US 9 1/2 btw).

I still have it though. Naka display nga lang.

Ahhhh memories. I’ll buy one soon. Boots are fashionable.
