Every summer, I’d usually stay in our house, doing the same things over and over again. I really detest that. Maybe it’s one of the reasons why I don’t want to have a job that only requires you to sit in front of the computer from 7-3.
That’s why, I really love to go out of our house, that is, if time and money permits. Even if it is just a short trip to the mall, I still treasure it. Every trips that I’ve had are precious to me. I had the chance to breathe the urban air. I had the chance to see different faces, aside from your family and close friends. I had the chance to interact with strangers.
Now that’s the beauty of the outside world.
Those are the main reasons why I love traveling. Some people might think that it’s just a way to escape from reality. Some might consider it an expensive hobby. Others think that traveling is just about shopping spree or taking pictures with Snow White and Mickey Mouse at Disneyland. But no, that is NOT traveling.
When a man travels, he embarks on a new adventure to a place where he isn’t familiar with. There, he meets new people living in a totally different culture, totally different way of life. Communication can be a big problem to him since he can’t speak the language spoken by the locals. Moreover, he sometimes gets lost and doesn’t know where to go next. Yet, despite all the predicaments he encounters, he learns how to adapt. He learns how to deal with other people despite being a complete stranger to them. It’s a whole new experience, most especially if you’re visiting a place or country for the first time.
The joy of traveling can’t be seen from the number of shopping bags you brought from Singapore, or from those several pictures of you and Donald Duck. One cannot really see it, but one can always feel it. Everyone can feel it. True enough, those experiences can never be replaced by any other material things in the world.
Nevertheless, traveling gives you an opportunity to see and appreciate the outside world.
