Bought this book last June 6, 2010 but just started reading this last week. It’s a disaster-drama novel written by an English novelist, Stephen Baxter.
It’s a story about Earth’s struggle as the sea levels rise dramatically in just less than half a century. The abnormal rise of the sea level started in 2013. It isn’t brought about by global warming or climate change. The greatest contributor of it lies beneath Earth’s surface.
Civil wars break at every corner of the world as altitude becomes more valuable than oil and other natural resources. New York, London, Amsterdam, India, Pakistan, the Pacific Island Nations and other low-lying countries will be submerged underwater in just a few years. Russia and China will rage war to Tibet as the two countries seek for higher places. Billions of refugees seek shelter to higher places as they brace to another impending disaster. USA’s government offices are moved from Washington, D.C. to Denver, Colorado.
All creatures, big and small, including humans will be on the brink of extinction.
Unless, if their alternative plans work…
—- So far, so good. I had fun. Read this book if you’re into Meteorology, Climatology, Ecology and a little bit of drama and action.
