To the Twitter girl,

Before writing such claims that Filipinos are not Asians, you need to have an extensive knowledge in Population Genetics and Evolutionary Biology. Firstly, based from the journal articles that I have read for the past few years, Geneticists, Molecular Biologists and Evolutionary Biologists from different countries have collaborated to conduct studies regarding the evolution of man - man’s origin and the path of migration.

For years, they have acquired some samples from different races from different countries (African, Asian, Caucasian, etc). By determining the approximate age of man’s migration and evolution, mtDNA (Mitochondrial DNA) was used. Because the mutation rate of animal mtDNA is higher than that of nuclear DNA, mtDNA is a powerful tool for tracking ancestry through females (matrilineage) and has been used in this role to track the ancestry of many species back hundreds of generations.

Now, if we construct the phylogenetic tree of Homo sapiens sapiens, we can trace that human beings started to diverge at around 250,000 years ago from North East Africa. Because the sea level was a hundred and twenty meters lower compared today, there were lots of land bridges connecting Asia and Africa, Asia and Australia, North America and South America and Asia and North America. Furthermore, despite the variation of skin color, we are still human beings. It’s just our planet receives unequal distribution of sunlight. It is expected that people living near the equator would have a darker skin tone compared to people living in the temperate regions. That’s a perfect example of an ecotype. In evolutionary ecology, an ecotype describes a genetically distinct geographic variety, population or race within species, which is adapted to specific environmental conditions. Typically, ecotypes exhibit phenotypic differences (such as in morphology or physiology) stemming from environmental heterogeneity and are capable of interbreeding with other geographically adjacent ecotypes without loss of fertility or vigor.

Lastly, you shouldn’t underestimate Charles Darwin’s theory (Origin of Species). In today’s time, it’s been proven that human beings are not direct descendants of monkeys. We have a common ancestor but diverge later in time. Let us consider Darwin’s time. During the mid 1800s, people were still skeptical about science. People still believe in Creationism. Science at that time was termed as heretical. Darwin at that time didn’t really know about Mendel’s theory of inheritance or Alfred Wegener’s Continental Drift Theory. We still have to give Darwin a credit because he was an eye-opener. Without Darwin, our knowledge about evolution wouldn’t be as modern as what we have right now.

PS: To that dimwitted girl, please support your claim by citing credible sources. It is like you’re building a skyscraper with a weak foundation.

You’re a dead meat.
